Accessibility

We have not yet had this website independently tested against a formal accessibility standard, so this statement describes how it is built rather than claiming a conformance level.

Velgo is transport for people who are often poorly served by transport, so a website and a set of apps that are awkward to use would be a strange place to start. This page sets out what we have done, what we know we have not done, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

How the product is built

The site and the apps share one design system, so a status colour or a piece of status wording means the same thing wherever you meet it.

App and portal screens carry screen-reader labels and spoken announcements for the things that matter — journey status, arrival windows, and notices telling you the app is offline.

This website works with the keyboard, shows where the focus is, allows text to be resized, and is built with contrast in mind rather than as an afterthought.

A wheelchair-accessible vehicle is priced from the same table as every other vehicle class. Needing a ramp does not make the journey cost more. That is written into the pricing engine, not into a policy.

What we have not done yet

We have not commissioned an independent accessibility audit, so we are not claiming a conformance level. When we have been tested, this page will say against what standard, by whom, and what was found — including the parts we failed.

We have not yet tested the apps with a representative group of disabled users, which is a different and more useful thing than testing them against a checklist.

Both of these happen before we start carrying passengers.

Telling us something is wrong

Use the contact form and describe what you were trying to do and what happened. Telling us which device, browser or assistive software you were using helps, but do not let not knowing stop you from writing.

We will tell you what we can fix quickly, what will take longer, and what we are not going to be able to fix — rather than acknowledging your message and leaving it there.
